 OPEN LETTER TO:

 AMBASSADOR JEPPE TRANHOLM-MIKKELSEN,

SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION

EUROPEAN UNION DELEGATION TO THE UNITED NATIONS

666 THIRD AVENUE NEW YORK, NEW YORK 10017.

SUBJECT: REPUDIATION OF FRIVOLOUS CLAIM OF NNAMDI KALU OF THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF BIAFRA (IPOB)TO SUBSUME INDIGENOUS PEOPLES' UNION OF NIGER DELTA.

                                                                                            DISCLAIMER

The Indigenous Peoples Union of Niger Delta [I-PUND] is an international Advocacy, geo-political, socio-economic and religio-cultural Organization dedicated to the emancipation and pursuits of the marginalized Indigenous Peoples of the Niger Delta, Nigeria, with headquarters in the United States.

Our attention has been drawn to a recent frivolous, reckless and satirical paper presented to the European Union Parliament by one Nnamdi Kalu, a renegade lackey representing an outlawed mob from the South-East geo-political zone of Nigeria, called the Indigenous People of Biafra [IPOB], as published by the DAILYPOST, a Nigerian-Online Newspaper of September 11, 2019 (ref. www.dailypost.ng), Captioned: "Nnamdi Kalu takes Biafra to EU parliament, makes revelations". In his paper, he used our territory, (the oil-hub of Nigeria), as part of his acquisition.

We, the Indigenous Peoples Union of the Niger Delta, South-South geo-political zone of Nigeria repudiate the reckless inclusion of our peoples into the map of the "make-belief independent State of Biafra" championed by this renegade and varmint, Nnamdi Kalu, from the South-East geo-political zone of Nigeria. We, wish to state categorically to him and his misguided followers that the Indigenous Peoples of the Niger Delta are NOT, and CAN NEVER be a part of Biafra. We, are therefore WARNING him to CEASE AND DESIST from including our geo-political zone into his dreamland as he perambulates across the globe advocating for the state of Biafra.

The sent WARNING is extended to the agitators of the future Oduduwa Republic from the South-West geo-political zone of Nigeria NOT to add Edo and Delta States into their projected future territories.

According to the delusional Nnamdi Kalu in the above publication,

“It is the determination of the IPOB to ensure self determination by calling for referendum that the Buhari led Nigerian government decided to brand it as a terrorist organization, a proclamation the EU, the United Kingdom and United States of America have all rejected."

“Biafrans do not speak the same language, as many speak Igbo, and others speak Urhobo-Isoko, Ijaw-Epie-Ogbia, Ogoni, Efik, Annang, Eket, Oron-Ibibio, Ogoja, Ejagham, Igala, Idoma Ibani and Igbanke among others."

“To put Biafra in its Nigeria geo-political context, Biafraland is made up of Rivers Province, Cross Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Imo, Anambra, Abia, Enugu, Bayelsa, and Delta and the Fulani herdsmen have shown interest in the provinces from the central belt of Biafra such as Enugu."

The above misguided presentation is very offensive to the Indigenous Peoples Union of Niger Delta who are only interested in a Self Determination Referendum for UNION OF NIGER DELTA REPUBLIC.

CEASE & DESIST ORDER TO NINAS (NIGERIAN INDIGENOUS NATIONALITIES ALLIANCE)  AND LOWER NIGER CONGRESS ADVOCATES

We, the indigenous Peoples of the Niger Delta (www.IPUND.org) draw your attention to the reports of Independence Referendum circulating in the social media orchestrated by The Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance (NINA) for Self Determination at  (www.NINAS.org) with another roque group The Lower Niger Congress at (www.LNC.org).

We are not against self-determination by peaceful means, by any indigenous group or groups in Nigeria given the polarized political situation now in the country. We are concerned about scallywags and political interlopers adding some or all portions of the South-South zone, made of Six states: Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers, Delta, Edo and Rivers to their block. We are  the Indigenous Peoples Union of the Niger Delta or (South-South geo-political region) of Nigeria. We constitute multi-ethnic groups from the aforesaid Six states. We are neither the Igbos, otherwise referred to as the indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB), who occupy the South-East part of Nigeria nor the Yorubas, who occupy the South-West geo-political zone of the Country.  These two groups, together with us, are equal partners as homogenous and heterogeneous ethnic groups respectively in Nigeria. The Indigenous Peoples of the Niger Delta are appurtenant between them. In the current attempts for individual groups to extricate themselves from the volatile and hostile northern Nigerian invaders, hence, application to the United Nations is justifiable and inevitable for self-independence. Every indigenous homogenous or heterogenous groups want to exit Nigeria peacefully.

We are hereby petitioning the United Nations Secretary General to reject any independence application by our Nigerian’s neighbors, if they add any of our territories to their states. The Indigenous Peoples  Union of the Niger Delta (IPUND) is neither  a part of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB-the Igbos) - our Eastern neighbors nor the Yorubas - our Western neighbors. We are three different and independent Southern groups of distinct ethnicities. For the record, the Indigenous Peoples of the Niger Delta, are also applying for the UN referendum for the creation of the Union of Niger Delta Republic.
We, therefore, issue a Cease and Desist order to the groups parading as freedom fighters, who try to annex our Niger Delta territories. We intend to take a legal action by filing a Cease and Desist injunction in  a Federal Court in the State of New York against any violator of our Territorial Rights, if our territory is subsumed in the map that they have submitted to the UN Secretary General, as a part of their territory, while applying for a referendum.

In conclusion, we state here categorically that the Yorubas can promote their Oduduwa Republic Self Determination Referendum in pursuit of political independence in the South-West geo-political states of Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo. Similarly, the Igbos are free to seek Biafra Republic in the South-East geo-political zone of Abia, Anambra, Eboyi, Enugu and Imo states of Nigeria as long as NO part of the territory belonging to IPUND is added to their self-acclaimed and invented LOWER NIGER entity, that does not even exist in the current Nigerian map.

The United Nations should REJECT any Self-Determination Referendum grouping that annexes the Niger Delta people of the South-South with the Igbos of the South-East or the Yorubas of the South-West. This is a matter of ANNEXATION that should be addressed now because it could lead to political conflagration in Nigeria and the West African sub-region.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

The Indigenous Peoples Union of the Niger Delta.
